The USA World Cup team lost a match yesterday, and that put them out of the World Cup for 2018. This is a soccer tournament, and lots of the world will be watching the World Cup next year.
I like such events because they bring people of the world together, like some of the people I watched the match with. I am not intent on watching sports, but I like when people connect in some way that fits them.
The cool thing about the World Cup is that each country gets to support their people in competing with other countries on a soccer field. Events have effects on the people that are not even participating in the event. There is an energy around these things.
I used to play soccer on a team when I was in 6th grade, and the team name was the “Arctic Blast”, which was based on a slushie drink we had at our middle school. I like the sport because it involves a lot of running, but it requires a lot of teammates all coming together at the same time, so it is not as casual as basketball.
The World Cup next year will be held in Russia.
